Plus-size clothing is women's clothing, sizes 14 and up. The size ranges in plus size clothing often includes a "W" (i.e. 16W), where the W stands for Women. Plus sizes have often been refered to as "Women's Sizes". The plus size apparel are usually arranged in their own department or even in a specialty boutique store that caters exclusively to women who wear plus sizes. Plus-size clothing is typically sold by numerical sizes (14,16,18...) or by X, which stands for extra large. Plus size brands use this designation with a number range 1X, 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, and 6X. Somtimes plus size clothing that is sized beyond size 24 or 3X is generally referred to as "Super Size".
In the past, many women who wore plus sizes had difficulty finding stylish clothing in plus sizes. With the introduction of online shopping on the Internet, the choices and options available to plus-size women and plus-size teens has exploded. Many internet stores either carry some or focus exclusively on plus size apparel.
